I truly wish more people understood the power of our nervous system. You can do all the right treatments and take all the right supplements, but if you're not supporting your nervous system, you're never allowing your body the opportunity to rest and heal. The good news is that there are many simple and often free ways to support it. If you're feeling stuck or simply don't know where to begin, start here. Supporting your nervous is one of the most powerful things you can do, no matter where you are in your healing journey. Find a few that work for you and practice them consistently throughout the day. Remember, small steps equal big wins.
Aeon Phototherapy Patch: Non-transdermal patch • Activates a peptide found in royal jelly
• Calms the nervous system
Note: This has been one of my favorite patches and one of my personal game changers
Breathwork: Box breathing • 4-7-8 breathing • Belly (diaphragmatic) breathing
Tanya's Tip: Breathe in through your nose for 4, slowly exhale through your mouth for 8
Cold Exposure: Cold face immersion • Cold hand immersion • Cool showers
• Cold plunge
EFT Tapping: Emotional Freedom Technique • Guided tapping • Meridian tapping
Gargling: 30-60 seconds several times a day to stimulate the vagus nerve
Grounding: Barefoot outdoors • Earthing mats • Nature
Tanya's Tip: For outdoors, choose natural surfaces like grass, sand, soil, or unsealed/unpainted concrete
Humming: Humming and singing stimulate the vagus nerve
Tanya's Tip: I hum the alphabet
Meditation: Guided meditation • Mindfulness • Body scan
Mindset: Positive self-talk • Positive thoughts • Gratitude
Tanya's Tip: Our thoughts and words tell our nervous system whether we're safe. I would place notes around the house with positive phrases and reminders to think positively
Sound Therapy: Music • Singing bowls • Sound frequencies • Tuning forks
Tuning forks and frequencies are two of my favorite things
